Scott Signs With Cleveland

April 29, 2005

Former North Carolina tailback Chad Scott has signed a free agent contract with the Cleveland Browns. A total of six Carolina players from last season's Continental Tire Bowl team have either been drafted or signed with an NFL squad.

Deep snapper Greg Warren (Pittsburgh) and quarterback Darian Durant (Baltimore) signed free agent deals earlier this week. Center Jason Brown (4th round, Baltimore), safety Gerald Sensabaugh (5th, Jacksonville) and fullback Madison Hedgecock (7th, St. Louis) were selected in last weekend's NFL Draft.

Scott started the last five games of 2004, including the Continental Tire Bowl against Boston College. He made his first start as a Tar Heel against Miami and rushed for a career-high 175 yards in Carolina's 31-28 upset victory over the fourth-ranked Hurricanes. Scott finished seventh in the ACC, averaging 72.4 rushing yards per game despite seeing the bulk of his action in the second half of the season. He led the team with 796 yards on 143 carries and eight touchdowns.
