Chapel Hill, N.C. ----- Due to forecasts of heavy rain and severe thunderstorms, the University of North Carolina's Spring Football Showcase, scheduled for Saturday, April 5, has been cancelled. Weather forecasts for Saturday call for a 90 percent chance of rain with developing thunderstorms and damaging wind.

"Based on the weather forecast and the concern for the safety of everyone planning to attend Saturday's Showcase, we decided to cancel the event," said Associate Athletic Director for Marketing Rick Steinbacher. "The athletic department made this decision as early as possible Friday so we could let our fans know immediately."

Carolina will hold a football scrimmage on Monday, April 7 at 3:30 p.m. (weather permitting) at Kenan Stadium that is open to the public. Parking will be available at the Rams Head Parking Deck at the West end of Kenan Stadium and fans should enter through Gates 2 or 6.
