Ford Field Getting Ready For Hoops
Dec. 2, 2008
Fans of the Detroit Lions might be pleased to know that the football field at Ford Field is gone. Oh, the 0-12 Lions will be back soon enough. But this week, the turf at the site of the 2009 Final Four is being converted to a basketball court so Michigan State can host Carolina Wednesday night at 9:15 in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge. That article points out one item the Smith Center maintenance crew is probably glad they don't have to deal with in a typical game setup: Madonna's concert stage had to be cleared out of storage before they could prepare for the basketball game. Once the hardwood is ready, a familiar face to the Tar Heel coaching staff will be preparing to host the nation's top-ranked team: former recruit Delvon Roe plays for the Spartans.
