The University of North Carolina men's basketball team ranked fourth in the nation during the 2002-03 season in home attendance, the NCAA has announced. Carolina averaged 18,688 fans at each of its 18 home dates last season, with a total of 336,384 fans.

Kentucky led the nation with an average of 22,271 fans per home game, followed by Syracuse (20,921) and Louisville (19,037). Fourth-place Carolina (18,688) was followed by Maryland (17,566), Wisconsin (16,930), Memphis (16,643), Indiana (16,527), Kansas (16,300) and Ohio State (16,057) in the top 10.

The 2002-03 season was the 16th in the last 17 years that the Tar Heels have ranked in the top five nationally in home attendance (since the Smith Center was first in operation for a full season in 1986-87).
