Sunday's win over Clemson marked the first time in over 30 years that Carolina has won the outright ACC regular season title plus the ACC Tournament title. Six previous Tar Heel teams have accomplished that feat (1957, 1967, 1968, 1969, 1972, and 1977). All six of those teams advanced to at least the Final Four.
Carolina's three-game total of 236 points in Charlotte was the second lowest three-game figure of the season. The lowest (225) came against BYU, Ohio State, and Kentucky in late November and early December.
Wayne Ellington's 10-of-13 performance against Clemson was the best shooting day of his Tar Heel career so far.
Sunday's win over Clemson marked just the fourth time in his UNC career that Marcus Ginyard has attempted at least 10 field goals. The Tar Heels are now 2-2 when Ginyard shoots at least 10 times (wins against UCSB and Clemson this year and losses against Illinois during the 2005-06 season and Duke this year).
Carolina is currently riding a six-game winning streak in the month of March and is challenging for the program's best-ever single-season March streak. The current record holder is the 1957 team, which won nine in a row in March on the way to the national title. The 1982 and 1997 squads each won eight straight in March. The 1981, 1991, 1998 and 2007 teams each won seven straight in March.
