Carolina has made at least 50 percent of its field goals in four straight conference games. That's only the second time that has happened against league opponents in the Roy Williams era.
The Tar Heels will be shooting for a milestone against Boston College: no Carolina team that has played at least 10 road games in a season has ever lost fewer than two road games. Carolina is 11-0 on the road this season with two road games (Boston College and Duke) remaining.
Carolina is currently averaging 87.7 points per game in ACC games. That would be the highest figure of the Williams era and the highest for any Carolina team since the 1986-87 squad averaged a blistering 91.1 points in league contests.
Tyler Hansbrough is in the middle of the best scoring stretch of his career and the best such stretch in the nation this season. The Player of the Year candidate has at least 22 points in his last seven games. No other player from a BCS conference has had a similar scoring streak of more than five games. Hansbrough's previous high streak was three games, which he achieved twice earlier this season.
Alex Stepheson has quietly moved into a tie as the squad's second-leading rebounder. Stepheson's 5.2 rebounds per game are tied with Danny Green and narrowly ahead of Deon Thompson (5.1 rpg). Stepheson is averaging a rebound every 2.96 minutes of game action, easily the best figure on the team and better than any player in the ACC's top 10 in rebounding.
