Now that December is over, you might want to revisit this Tuesday Talking Point.
Ty Lawson already has a pair of 0-turnover games as a Carolina starter. Raymond Felton had four 0-turnover games in his three-year Carolina career.
Lawson's current assist/turnover ratio is 2.68. Since turnovers were reliably tracked, the best mark for a Carolina freshman point guard who started the majority of his team's games is Ed Cota's 1.89.
Brandan Wright is currently shooting 67.2% from the field. That would easily eclipse the all-time ACC freshman record of 62.6% set by Sam Perkins. It would also rank as the second-best field goal percentage season in league history and rank second all-time among Carolina players (behind Brendan Haywood's 69.7% in 2000).
Only three Tar Heels in the past decade have shot better than 43 percent from the 3-point line--Wes Miller (44.1%) in 2006, Raymond Felton (44.0%) in 2005, and Ademola Okulaja (43.1%) in 1999. Wayne Ellington is currently hitting 44.4% of his 3-pointers.
Only one Carolina team in the past 35 years has opened their ACC schedule with back-to-back home games--the 2000 team opened the year with league wins over Clemson and NC State at the Smith Center.
