After assisting the University of North Carolina football program and several other varsity sports between 1990-93, Ben Cook took over as the men's basketball strength and conditioning director during the 1993-94 season. In this capacity, he also serves as the video operations coordinator for the team. A Denton, N.C., native, the 35-year-old Cook received his Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science from Pfeiffer College in 1987. He received a master's degree from the University of North Carolina in 1995 in exercise and sports science. Cook, who is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), is responsible for the design and administration of weight training and conditioning programs for the Tar Heels. In addition, Cook's duties include filming the squad's practices and games and organizing the team's video library. Cook was born October 26, 1963, in Denton, N.C. From 1987-88, he assisted with the strength and conditioning of varsity athletes at Appalachian State University. Cook is married to the former Lisa Hill of Midway, N.C. |
