Join a summer Baseball Camp on the beautiful campus of the University of North Carolina. Mike Fox, head coach of the University of North Carolina baseball club, and his selected staff of quality instructors, will provide a positive learning environment for you. A fun filled baseball experience giving you all the tools to become a better player.
Camp Highlights
For overnight camps(NO OVERNIGHT CAMPS ARE SCHEDULED IN 2009) campers will reside in campus Residence Hall located only a short walk from Boshamer Stadium. Campers will eat in the Ramshead Center located right across the street from Boshamer Stadium!
Camper to Staff Ratio - We make every effort to have an excellent counselor to camper ratio. This ensures quality instruction and individual attention.
Gear - Each camper receives a tee shirt and Gatorade bottle. Official Carolina Baseball game hats and various other Nike baseball items may be purchased during registration and at other times during camp from our camp store.
Quality Facilities - Carolina Baseball Camps are held at the brand new $25.6m Bryson Field at Boshamer Stadium in the heart of campus. Little camps are held at the UNC Softball complex.
College Night - Learn About Recruiting and Carolina. If time permits and facilities are open, DURING OUR PROSPECT SKILLS CAMP ONLY AND IF TIME PERMITS, counselors and team managers conduct a tour of Kenan Stadium, the Dean E. Smith Center, and various other athletic and academic facilities on campus. A brief session on recruiting and what college coaches look for will be offered. Coaches and counselors will answer questions about NCAA rules and regulations and the NCAA Clearinghouse. Not all UNC coaches may available each camp because of recruiting committments.
Written Assessment - Campers attending the Pitching/Catching and Hitting camps will receive a standard written assessment from his particular counselor/coach. Our staff does not "grade" the camper, but critiques the camper on his abilities and tries to make suggestions on how to improve. UNC coaches do not complete theses evaluations.
Airport Shuttle Service - The Chapel Hill area is served by Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Transportation from RDU is available through the following: Chapel Hill Express (919)941-6993 or campers may take a taxi. Transportation to RDU at the conclusion of the camp will be provided at no extra charge
About the 2009 Sessions
Carolina Baseball Camps are recommended for the serious baseball player who desires to become a better player. All of our camps for the older player (rising 7th grade and up) are designed to challenge the serious baseball player to his maximum potential. The camp curriculum is fundamentally oriented. Each session and drill is age appropriate.
LITTLE TAR HEEL DAY CAMPS -- JUNE 22-25, 2009 and JULY 27-30, 2009 (Monday-Thursday)
$295--Offered for rising 1st-5th graders only.
This camp teaches the basic fundamentals of the game. Games are played most days. Camp instruction begins at 9:00am and ends at 5:00pm Monday-Thursday. Campers are dropped off at 8:45am and picked up at 5:00pm daily. 100 spaces available each camp. 2009 LITTLE TAR HEEL CAMPS WILL BE HELD AT THE UNC SOFTBALL COMPLEX LOCATED OFF HIGHWAY 54 BEHIND THE GENERAL ADMINISTRATION BUILDING.
MIDDLE SCHOOL CAMP -- JUNE 26-28, 2009 (Friday-Sunday)
$450-- Offered for rising 9th-12th graders only. This camp is designed for evaluation and instruction by the UNC coaching staff with emphasis on the potential for Division I baseball. Camp begins Friday at 2:00pm and ends Sunday at 1:00pm. Friday, July 31: 2:00pm-6:00pm, Saturday Aug.1: 9:00am-6:00pm, Sunday, Aug. 2: 9:00am-1:00pm. Lunch is served Saturday only. 75 spaces available. Campers are responsible for their own hotel and transportation.
Camp Staff
Head Coach Mike Fox
The 2008 Baseball America National Coach of the Year, head coach Mike Fox has guided the Tar Heels to a 452-190-1 record, three straight trips to the College World Series and nine NCAA appearances in his 10 seasons at Carolina.
Over the last three seasons, UNC leads the nation with 165 victories and it has hosted an NCAA Regional each season since 2006 and a Super Regional in each of the last two seasons. The Tar Heels have been ranked as the nation's No. 1 team in each of the last three years and have been ranked in the top five of the polls for 43 straight weeks. Fox has a career 992-331-5 record and ranks among the active leaders in victories and winning percentage.
Fox played for the Tar Heels from 1975-1978, earning all-tournament honors at the 1978 College World Series in Omaha. The Tar Heels finished third in the nation his senior season, the highest national finish ever for the Tar Heels until this current run of three straight top-three finishes. Coach Fox is in his 25th year of college coaching.
Associate Head Coach Scott Forbes
Scott Forbes is in his fourth season as Carolina's pitching coach and first as the associate head coach. In his three years in Chapel Hill, Forbes has established the Tar Heels' pitching staff as the nation's best. In 2008, his staff led the country in several categories, including ERA and strikeouts. For his efforts, Forbes was recognized as the national college pitching coach of the year by Collegiate Baseball newspaper.
Assistant Coach Scott Jackson
Assistant coach Scott Jackson is in his first season at Carolina. He joins the UNC staff after establishing a standout coaching career throughout the Southeast. Jackson, who also serves as UNC's recruiting coordinator, spent the 2008 season at Liberty after helping guide UNC Wilmington to three NCAA Tournament appearances from 2003-07.
Assistant Coach and CAMP DIRECTOR
Matt McCay
Assistant coach Matt McCay is in his second year at Carolina after a standout career in independent minor league baseball. A former player for Fox at UNC, McCay was a key part of last year's run to the College World Series and also coached the Thomasville Hi-Toms to the Coastal Plain League title last summer.
Additional Staff
Also on hand for the 2009 Carolina Baseball Camps will be several head and assistant baseball coaches from all levels of the game and possibly some members of the 2009 Tar Heel baseball squad. Well respected high school coaches from the region will serve as counselors. The staff will strive to give each camper individual instruction to aid in the development of their skills as a player.
Camper Safety
Dorm Supervisors
NO OVERNIGHT CAMPS IN 2009)
We have counselors who responsibilities include insuring the security of the dorm, ordering pizza, the Camp Bank, and contacting the University housing for any minor repairs necessary. The supervisors will make sure campers are comfortable and supervised. However, counselors cannot monitor campers all night therefore campers are to abide by curfew. Carolina Baseball Camps, Inc. is not responsible for campers who leave their room after curfew each night.
Rules For Safety
Camp rules are posted and handed out at registration. We strictly adhere to our rules for good reason. It helps insure the safety of your son and his overall positive camp experience. We believe good discipline begins at home, however, and would appreciate you talking with your son about proper conduct while "on his own" at camp. If disciplinary action is required, only Coach Fox will be in charge of action. Disciplinary measures could range from giving an apology, field maintenance or running the stadium steps. Campers may be expelled for breaking major rules such as being caught with drugs or alcohol, leaving camp without permission, or causing bodily harm to himself or other campers. In this event, the parents are called to pick up their son immediately and there is no refund.
Camp Rules
- Attendance at all camp sessions and games is MANDATORY
- Be on time
- Absolutely NO use or possession of alcoholic beverages or drugs
- DO NOT miss curfew in the evening -- Curfew violations may result in dismissal from camp
- All car keys will be turned in to the camp supervisor
- NO HAZING of any other campers -- We need to know this!
- Campers are NOT permitted to go to Uptown (Franklin Street)
- Keep up with your own equipment -- We are not responsible!
- Helmets MUST be worn when hitting at ALL times
- Helmets MUST be worn when feeding pitching machine
- Throw ONLY in the outfield
- Campers MUST wear shirts at all times
- Coaches will supervise any and all extra work
- NO horseplay around stadium
- NO use of weight equipment or running machines unless supervised by a staff member
- Campers are NOT permitted in the coaches' office area
- Campers MUST use credit card or call collect when dialing long distance
- Hats are NOT to be worn backwards
- Varsity locker room is off limits as well as the equipment room
- Varsity Players Lounge will be closed during all camp sessions
- Listen, work, hustle, improve, and have fun
Dormitory Rules
(NO OVERNIGHT CAMPS IN 2009)
- Do NOT leave your room after bed check.
- Do NOT give your room key to anyone else. Always keep your room locked if you are away from it
- Do NOT prop dorm rooms open
- Do NOT tamper with fire alarms, fire extinguishers, or other security devices
- Beds CANNOT be moved from one room to another
- Use the trash cans
- Know where the fire exits are & where your counselor's room is
- NO one is permitted in dormitory except campers/coaches
- NO horseplay on balcony
- NO spitting off balcony
- NO throwing objects off balcony
- NO loud music
- Campers are not permitted in other dormitories or on other floors other floors other than the other in which you reside
- NO metal cleats in the dormitory or inside the stadium
- Do NOT move furniture out of your room
- Do NOT leave pizza boxes in your room
- Do NOT wash cleats in showers or sinks
- Do NOT dry dirty, wet clothes in dryer
- Do NOT throw balls inside dorm
- Do NOT leave valuables out in your room
Cafeteria Rules
(NO OVERNIGHT CAMPS IN 2009)
- Attendance at all meals is MANDATORY. See your coach for an excuse
- Manners and good behavior are expected in the dining hall
- Clean up after yourself in the dining hall
- NO hats are to be worn in the dining hall
- NO breaking in line or saving places
Medical Staff
As required, we have a certified NATA trainer at our camp to attend to the medical needs of the campers.
Injury or illness while at camp
In the event of any injury or illness, each camper will be evaluated by the NATA certified trainer. He/She may recommend that your son sit out a session or revisit the trainer before the next session. Your son should follow the advice of the trainer as it is in his best interest to do so. If your son has not registered a complaint, the trainer cannot always know there is something wrong just by looking at a camper. In the event the trainer recommends your son see a physician, the trainer will try to contact you immediately. Please have your son prepared to drink a lot of fluids as heat related injuries are most common in summer.
Insurance
In the event of injury or illness while at camp, your son will be taken to the UNC Hospital located within a mile of both the dorm and fields. It will be necessary for the insurance information that you provide on the waiver statement to be accurate. All campers must have their own medical insurance. Carolina Baseball Camps, Inc. provides excess coverage after your insurance policy has been utilized. Campers will not be allowed to play unless the information is submitted and the form is signed by the parent or guardian of the camper.

At registration, we will have a list of nececessary telephone numbers available. This will include our camp telephone number (919) 408-3004, Boshamer Stadium's main telephone number (919) 962-2351 and a cell number for use in an emergency. We ask that you do not call this cell phone between 11pm and 7am since the campers and counselors will be sleeping, except in emergencies.

Camp Details
Tuition
Cost for our 2009 Little Tar Heel Camp is $295. Tuition includes all instruction, excess medical insurance and camp tee shirt. Tuition does not include lunch (campers bring their own each morning) or travel to and from camp.
Cost for our 2009 Middle School Camp is $350. Tuition includes all instruction, excess medical insurance, camp tee shirt and lunch on Saturday. Tuition does not include any other meals, transportation or lodging.
Cost for our 2009 Pitcher/Catcher Camp is $200. Cost for our 2009 Hitting Camp is $200. Tuition includes all instruction, excess medical insurance, camp tee shirt and lunch on Friday and Saturday. Tuition does not include any other meals, transportation or lodging.
Cost for our 2009 Prospect Skills Camp is $450. Tuition includes all instruction and evaluation, excess medical insurance, camp tee shirt and lunch on Saturday. Tuition does not include any other meals, transportation or lodging.
Day Camper (ALL CAMPERS ARE COMMUTERS IN 2009)
If you choose not to stay in the dorm, enjoy all the benefits of camp from 9:00am until 9:00pm as a day camper. This option does not include breakfast or overnight stay.
Key/Room Deposit
(NO OVERNIGHT CAMPS IN 2009)
There will be a required refundable $50 key/room deposit due at registration.This must be a separate check and should NOT be mailed in with your registration. The key deposit is due at check-in. Key/room deposits will be returned at check-out when the key is turned in and satisfactory room check-out is completed.
Roommate Requests
(NO OVERNIGHT CAMPS IN 2009)
We understand the importance of being able to room with a friend. These requests are handled at check-in.It is helpful, but not necessary, if you and your roommate register together during check-in.
Medical Forms
Once we have received your application and deposit, we will send the camper a registration letter and medical form. This medical form is to be completed by your physician. A camper is not allowed to participate without a completed medical form. Please bring this form with you to check-in. Do not mail this form back to us.
Availability of Camp Spaces
If you receive an application and have not mailed it to us by approximately June 1, you must call our camp line to ensure the week you have chosen has space available. Our camps fill up quickly. If we receive an application for a camp session that is full we will place this application on our waiting list. If space does not open we will return your check. We will update our camp voice mail as needed on the availability of the camp weeks and the spaces available. Our camp voice mail number is (919) 408-3004.

Lost or Stolen Items
All of your son's gear should have his name in permanent marker on them. We have permanent markers at registration for the gear you will receive. We do not recommend that you bring expensive items such as cell phones, radios, CD players, jewelry, large amounts of money, watches, laser pointers, etc. Carolina Baseball Camps, Inc. or camp counselors are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please prepare your son to be mindful of his belongings and to report a lost or stolen item at once.
Preparing Your Son for Camp
Up to this point, we have asked that you prepare your son for several things prior to coming to camp. Preparedness makes for a better overall camp experience. He should be physically ready for the demands of practice 3 times a day, which means well-rested and fit. You can prepare your son for camp by talking to him about your expectations and our expectations. While your son is at camp, we want him to talk to us, communication is the key. If there is a problem we need to know. You should know that our camp is not a country club and that adaptability is essential to everyone's enjoyment. We are, of course, prepared to provide the best possible environment for your son at camp.
Visiting Camp
(NO OVERNIGHT CAMPS IN 2009)
We have an open-door policy regarding watching your son practice and play while at camp. However, parents are not allowed in dormitories after check-in until check-out. Should you want to arrange an official tour of campus, you will need to contact the Admissions Office at (919)966-3621. Visitors must make their own arangements for parking.
Day Camper Procedure
(All CAMPERS ARE COMMUTERS IN 2009)
Day campers should come dressed to play. Bring what you need to last until 9:00pm. For the All-Star and Pitcher/Catcher/Infielder/Hitting Camp, you will be fed dinner on check-in day. Every other day after registration, you should be dropped off at Boshamer Stadium at 8:45am. Eat breakfast at home. After the morning and afternoon sessions you will go with the rest of the campers to have lunch and dinner. You may go to the dormitory and rest in the dorm TV lounge. Since you will need a key to get into the dorm, make sure you are with a resident camper or staff member to get in from outside. After lunch and dinner, you will go back to the stadium with the rest of the campers. You should be picked up at 9:00pm at Boshamer Stadium.
Free Time Opportunities
We would like to stress the importance of rest during their free time. However, campers are sometimes permitted to visit the Student Union while on campus during their free time after they have had lunch or dinner. Pool tables, arcades, bowling and other games are available. Please be on your best behavior. CAMPERS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO SWIM WHILE AT CAROLINA BASEBALL CAMP.
REFUND POLICY
Your deposit (less a $100 cancellation fee) is refundable only if notification is received ONE MONTH prior to the opening day of your particular camp session. No refunds will be made within one month of registration except in the case of serious injury/illness documented in writing by a doctor. ANY CANCELLATION WITHIN 20 DAYS OF THE CAMP RESULTS IN FORFEIT OF ENTIRE DEPOSIT-NO MATTER THE REASON. There is no refund for no shows. Our camp refund policy is non-negotiable.

Directions to Registration -- BOSHAMER STADIUM
FROM Virginia and Points North
Take I-85 South to Durham, NC. Exit left at US 15-501 in Durham and follow 15-501 approximately 9 miles to Chapel Hil. There will be a split of 15-501 in Durham so be sure to follow signs for Chapel Hill and stay to the right. Once in Chapel Hill, maintain 15-501 Bypass (Fordham Blvd). Around the 7th stoplight, turn right onto Manning Drive. Continue on Manning Drive until the first stoplight. You will see Ehringhaus Residence Hall on your right. (You should also see a gold sign for Carolina Baseball Camp) Turn right at the light onto Ridge Road. Approximately 1/2 mile on your right will be Boshamer Stadium.
FROM Points West
Take I-85 North towards Durham, NC. Exit just past Burlington onto NC-54 East (Exit #148, Chapel Hill). Follow NC-54 for approximately 20 miles to Carrboro. Go through two stoplights and stay on NC-54 until the next stoplight." Turn left at this light onto Manning Drive. Continue on Manning until first stoplight. You will see Ehrinnghaus Residence Hall on your right. (You should also see a gold sign for Carolina Baseball Camp) Turn right onto Ridge Road. Continue on Ridge Road approximately 1/2 mile and Boshamer Stadium will be on your right.
FROM Points East
Take I-40 West to Chapel Hill. Exit at NC-54 West (Exit #273B) and follow approximately 4 miles After the US 15-501 bpass, continue on straight on NC-54 up the long hill until the first stoplight. Turn left at stoplight (you should see a gold sign for Carolina Baseball Camp) onto Country Club Road. Make immediate right onto Ridge Road. Continue on Ridge Road approximately 1/2 mile. Boshamer Stadium will be on your left.
FROM Points South
Take US 15-501 North to Chapel Hill. Exit right onto 15-501 Bypass in Chapel Hill. Turn left at first stoplight onto Manning Drive. Continue on Manning until first stoplight. Turn right at light onto Ridge Road. Take a right onto Ridge Road (You should see a gold sign for Carolina Baseball Camp). Boshamer Stadium is 1/2 mile on your right.
