July 22, 2004

ORLEANS, Mass. - North Carolina freshman left-hander Andrew Miller has been selected to the 42nd annual Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star Game the league announced Monday. The game is scheduled for Saturday at Orleans' Eldredge Park.

Miller, who has made five starts for the Chatham Athletics, is 2-0 on the summer with a 1.62 earned run average. He has struck out 38 batters in 32.1 innings and was recently cited as one of the top pitchers on the Cape this summer by ESPN's Peter Gammons. Miller will pitch for the East Divison All-Stars.

In addition to Miller's exploits, sophomore Mike Daniel earned a starting spot in right field for the American All-Star team of the Coastal Plain League. After batting .296 with three home runs and 10 runs batted in 29 games with Peninsula, Daniel went 1-for-2 in Tuesday night's CPL All-Star Game at American Legion Field in Florence, S.C.
