Carolina's Bard and Miller Named Freshman All-America
June 28, 2004 DURHAM, N.C. - North Carolina rookie hurlers Daniel Bard and Andrew Miller each earned second-team Freshman All-America honors from Baseball America, the publication announced last Thursday. The 2004 Atlantic Coast Conference Freshman of the Year, Bard went 8-4 on the year with a 3.88 earned run average, while Miller was 6-3 with a 2.93 ERA. Bard picked up first-team all-league honors, while Miller was named to the second team. Bard, Miller and classmate Robert Woodard combined for 22 of the Tar Heels' 43 wins this season.
Miller is pitching for the Chatham Athletics of the Cape Cod League this summer, while Bard was named to the USA National Team Sunday.
