June 6, 2005

GAINESVILLE, Fla. - After leading the Tar Heels in hits and runs batted in at the 2005 NCAA Gainesville Regional, North Carolina freshman infielder Chad Flack was named to the regional all-tournament team Monday.

Flack hit .455 (5-11) and drove in a team-best four runs in the Tar Heels' three games in the tournament. He went 3-for-4 with two RBI in the 5-1 win over Notre Dame last Friday and drove in Carolina's only runs with a two-run home run in the loss to Florida Saturday. He also scored two runs and stole one base on the weekend.

A native of Forest City, N.C., Flack led the Tar Heels with a rookie record 15 home runs and finished second on the team with 49 RBI. He was also third on the team with a .335 average. Flack also earned second-team All-ACC honors.
