No. 2 Tar Heels Back In Action Against North Florida

May 5, 2008

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Winners of 13 of its last 14 games heading into an eight-day break for final exams, No. 2 North Carolina returns to action with a two-game series against North Florida Tuesday and Wednesday at Cary's USA Baseball National Training Complex. First pitch for both games between the Tar Heels (38-8) and Ospreys (26-20) is set for 6 p.m.

A webcast of both games of the series will be aired live and on-demand by ACC Select.

UNC, which has never faced UNF, will start junior right-hander Adam Warren (6-1, 4.56 ERA) Tuesday and will turn to freshman righty Patrick Johnson (4-1, 2.23 ERA) Wednesday.

Offensively, the Tar Heels are paced by sophomores Dustin Ackley, Tim Fedroff and Kyle Seager, who rank among the top six hitters in the ACC. This trio has combined for 50 doubles, 24 home runs and 141 RBI.

The Ospreys are coming off a series win over Jacksonville and have captured three of their last four games overall. UNF has dropped its only other meeting with an ACC team this season, 10-2 to Florida State, and will face Miami May 13.

North Florida sports a .323 team batting average with four regulars batting more than .360. Chad Knight leads the way with a .385 average. Topped by closer Tyler Stohr, the Osprey pitching staff owns a staff ERA of 5.89.

Following this midweek set, Carolina is back in conference action at Virginia for a three-game series beginning Friday.
