Ackley Named ACC Player Of The Week Again
March 26, 2007 GREENSBORO, N.C. - After leading No. 3 North Carolina to a 4-1 week and a series win at Virginia Tech, Tar Heel freshman first baseman Dustin Ackley has been selected Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Player of the Week for the second consecutive Monday, the league office announced. Ackley went 11-for-22 at the plate with team highs of seven runs scored and nine runs batted in over five games. He had four multi-hit games on the week, including a four-hit effort at Virginia Tech last Friday. He homered in the first and second innings and posted career highs of four RBI and four runs scored. Against the Hokies, the native of Walnut Cove, N.C., was 7-for-15 with five runs scored, two home runs and five RBI. Ackley currently leads the league in batting average (.485) and RBI (36). Ackley and the Tar Heels are back in action against Davidson at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Boshamer Stadium.
