CARY, N.C. - North Carolina's highly-touted right-handers Alex White and Matt Harvey were dominant in Tuesday's opening game of the annual Fall World Series, which White's White squad won by a 1-0 margin in seven innings at Cary's USA Baseball National Training Complex.

White worked 5 2/3 shutout innings and struck out seven, while allowing just two hits and two walks. Logan Munson and Jimmy Messer combined for 1 1/3 shutout innings of relief with Messer earning the save.

Harvey matched White with seven strikeouts and allowed just one run in 4 1/3 frames for the Blue team. Brian Moran allowed just one hit over the final 1 2/3 frames.

The White team got all the offense it would need in the bottom of the first courtesy of an RBI single from third baseman Greg Holt. Junior transfer Ryan Norton scored the game's only run after drawing a walk off Harvey and moving to third on a base hit by Kyle Seager before Holt's game-winning base hit.

Tarron Robinson, Ryan Graepel and Mike McKee added hits for White, while Brett Thomas and Jeff May hit safely for the Blue squad.

Game two of the first best-of-three series is slated for 3 p.m. Wednesday in Cary.
