North Carolina joins Florida State as the only teams in Atlantic Coast Conference history to make three consecutive trips to the College World Series. The Seminoles made three straight CWS appearances from both 1994-96 and 1998-2000. Carolina's 14-4 victory over Coastal Carolina ran its record to 13-1 at home in NCAA play over the last three seasons. The Tar Heels have swept through nine straight games in the regional round since 2006 and are 4-1 in Super Regional play. UNC is now 70-50 in 120 all-time NCAA Tournament games, and Mike Fox is now 35-18 in the postseason. UNC's 51 victories are tied for the third most in school history, bettered only by the last two seasons. The Tar Heels have recorded three of the top four win totals in program history over the last three years and have registered three straight 50-win seasons. Sunday's 10-run win was the Tar Heels' biggest victory in Super Regional play, surpassing a six-run win in the first game at Alabama in 2006. Right-hander Adam Warren held the Chanticleers hitless until the fifth inning and allowed just two hits over six shutout innings. He walked four and struck out three to move to 9-1 on the season and 22-1 in his career. The ACC and UNC's career leader in winning percentage, Warren is now tied for 10th in Carolina history in career victories. In the postseason, Warren is now 3-0 with a 2.22 ERA in seven career appearances. The Tar Heels played errorless defense in the Super Regional and have committed just two errors in five NCAA Tournament games. Coastal Carolina scored 47 runs in three games in last weekend's regional but was held to just eight runs in two games against North Carolina. All nine Tar Heel starters hit safely on the day with six registering multi-hit games, including Dustin Ackley, who was 3-for-5 with three RBI, and Tim Federowicz, who was 3-for-5 with three RBI. Tim Fedroff, Chad Flack, Garrett Gore and Ryan Graepel each posted two of Carolina's 17 hits on the afternoon. The Tar Heels scored eight of their first nine runs with two outs. They went on to add five more runs for their second game with 10-plus runs this postseason. Carolina sent 10 men to the plate and scored six runs on six hits in the second inning to put the Chanticleers in an early deficit. Sophomore All-Americas Dustin Ackley and Tim Fedroff each tallied two-run base hits in the rally against Coastal Carolina starter Nick McCully, who lasted just two innings. Chad Flack's second-inning single snapped an 0-for-14 streak in NCAA Tournament play, dating to the regional opener against Mount St. Mary's. He was making just his sixth start of the season in the No. 6 spot in the line-up. With his first single, Flack established his fourth school record with the 516th total base of his career. He also holds Carolina career marks for hits, at-bats and games played. Flack went 2-for-4 with an RBI on the day. With three hits Sunday, Dustin Ackley now has 104 on the season to rank fourth on UNC's single-season list. He drove in three runs to reach the 50-RBI mark for the second straight year and scored two runs to move into a tie for secondon the Tar Heels' single-season list with 79 runs scored. With two RBI Sunday, Tim Fedroff move into ninth place on the Tar Heels' single-season list with 69. He also now has 105 hits on the year and is fourth in school history. Kyle Seager drove in his 73rd run of the season to move into a tie for fifth in school history. Senior Rob Wooten, who worked two shutout innings Sunday, pitched in his 105th career game to move into a tie for sixth in school history with Kevin Brower.
