After posting an 0-3 record and a 13.80 ERA in four NCAA Tournament starts last year, ACC Pitcher of the Year Alex White struck out eight and allowed just one run on three hits and a walk in his first career complete game Saturday against UNC Wilmington. White, who now has six or more strikeouts in nine straight games, needed just one start to top his strikeout total of six in 15 NCAA innings in 2007. White, who faced just three batters over the minimum Saturday, registered the first complete game by a Tar Heel since Robert Woodard went nine innings against Duke April 13, 2007. Over his last two starts, Alex White has struck out 19 and allowed just two runs on six hits over 16 innings. He matched a career high with 11 Ks in a no-decision against Virginia in the ACC Tournament. Kyle Seager's fourth-inning home run snapped an 0-for-16 slump and was the first of back-to-back homers, as Tim Federowicz followed with a solo shot. Carolina last hit consecutive home runs Feb. 23 at Florida Atlantic in the second game of the season. Seager's was his ninth and first since April 18, while Federowicz went deep for the fourth time this season and first since March 21. With three RBI Saturday, Kyle Seager now has plated 70 runs this season to move into eighth on the Tar Heels' single season list. Dustin Ackley scored his 74th run of the year Saturday to move into a tie for fifth on Carolina's single-season list. Tim Fedroff went 2-for-4 with two runs scored and has six hits in regional play. Fedroff now has 99 hits to rank sixth on the Tar Heels' single season list, while Dustin Ackley is tied for seventh with 98 base hits. Carolina's 5-1 win over UNCW ran its record to 10-1 at home in NCAA play over the last three seasons. The Tar Heels have won eight straight games in the regional round since 2006. UNC is now 67-50 in 117 all-time NCAA Tournament games, and Mike Fox is now 32-18 in the postseason. UNC now has 48 wins on the season to rank as the fourth most in school history. The Tar Heels have recorded three of the top four win totals in program history over the last three years. The Tar Heels have now won six straight games against the Seahawks.
