Post-Game Quotes From Daniel Moore

Recap | Box Score & Play-by-Play
Q: You got off to a quick start today. Did you feel good right away? Daniel Moore: "Actually, I kind of struggled in the bullpen warming up, but right before I finished, something clicked, and it started feeling like it should. That's the best I've felt since I came here. "I just felt good out there and threw the pitches where I needed to." Q: Have the coaches changed your delivery any since you've been here? Daniel Moore: "They've changed some things, just fine tuning. Coach Williams has done a great job just keeping me around the plate, but there hasn't really been any major changes. "I just go out there and try to throw strikes." Q: You've had two really good starts. You went seven innings in both and got the win in both. Daniel Moore: "(Laughing) I'll take twenty of them if I can get them. "I've just been fortunate to have good defense behind me, and to have good stuff in both of my starts. "When we played Minnesota down in Alabama, I didn't have my good stuff (in relief), and they hit me pretty hard. "I just couldn't locate my fast ball that day. When you can't do that, you're in trouble the whole day." Q: How much of pitching is attitude? Daniel Moore: "I think it's a big part of it. You just need to be aggressive and not hold back anything. We've talked about doing that both as a team and as individuals. "You just need to go after guys and not be afraid, don't be timid about anything. I felt like we did a good job of that today, and we need to continue to do that." Q: What's the biggest difference you've noticed between high school and college ball?
Daniel Moore: "Everybody here can hit a fastball, if you don't have a pitch to back it up.
In high school you can get away with throwing fastballs down the middle every now and
then, but when you get up here, you can't do that.
"You have to have a pitch to back up your fastball. Basically, you have to have all your pitches working to be effective at this level." |
