CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Left fielder Reid Fronk capped his first career four-hit game with a two-run home run and right-hander Robert Woodard allowed just one run over six innings, as No. 1 North Carolina improved to 5-0 for the third straight season with a 9-1 victory over Stony Brook Friday at Boshamer Stadium.

Now 2-0 on the season, Woodard became just the fifth pitcher in Tar Heel history to reach the 25-win mark against the Seawolves (0-1). The Charlotte native struck out three and allowed just three hits over six innings. He has not issued a walk on the season and threw 50 of his 67 pitches for strikes. Woodard is now 25-3 in his career for a UNC record .893 winning percentage and has won 20 of his last 21 decisions.

Fronk, who also scored three runs, doubled and scored in the first, and belted a towering homer to right in the sixth after singling in both the third and fifth innings. He was one of three Tar Heels with multi-hit efforts, as designated hitter Dustin Ackley and first baseman Chad Flack each had two hits on the day.

Ackley drove in Fronk in the first with his seventh double on the year and also singled and scored in the third on Flack's two-run single to left. Flack also drove in the first run of the Tar Heels' three-run fifth with a single through the left side before second baseman Kyle Seager followed with a single just inside third base to plate two. Flack and Seager, who has driven in at least one run in all five games this season, now share the team RBI lead with seven.

Right fielder Seth Williams singled and scored on a single by center fielder Drew Poulk to lead off the three-run sixth, and Fronk followed with his first home run of the season to close out the scoring for the Tar Heels.

The nine runs were more than enough for UNC, as relievers Adam Warren, Rob Wooten and Jared Bard struck out four and did not allow a hit over the final three frames. The Tar Heels did not issue a walk on the day.

Stony Brook starter Tom Koehler (0-1) took the loss after allowing four runs on six hits over 4 1/3 innings. Right fielder Michael Tansey provided the lone run for the Seawolves with a solo home run off Woodard to lead off the fifth.

Due to the threat of rain Sunday, Carolina and Stony Brook will play a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday to complete the three-game series.
