Los Angeles, Calif. -- Ryan Blake had a three-run home run and Sean Farrell added a two-run blast to lead the North Carolina Tar Heels to a 6-4 victory over the UCLA Bruins at sunny Jackie Robinson Stadium in Los Angeles this afternoon.

Eric Henderson (2-0) picked up the win by giving up three runs on four hits while striking out nine Bruins in 6.0 innings of work. Closer Derrick DePriest picked up his second save by holding UCLA scoreless in the eighth and ninth innings.

Bruin starter Josh Karp (2-1) suffered the loss after giving up all six Tar Heel runs in 6.0 innings.

UCLA got on the board first with one run in the bottom of the first before Carolina took the lead for good in the top of the second. Tyrell Godwin led off the inning with a single to center and Ryan Earey drew a walk. Blake then drilled his homer to left center.

UNC picked up another run in the fourth when Chad Prosser tripled to right to drive in Farrell.

Farrell, a freshman from Charlotte, N.C., then gave Carolina its final two runs in the sixth when his home run to left center gave the Heels a 6-1 lead. Farrell is now 5 for 8 with two home runs and seven RBI in the first two games of the series.

The Bruins got one run back in the sixth when Bill Scott's single drove home Garrett Atkins, who had reached on a walk.

UCLA pulled to within 6-4 after manufacturing two runs in the bottom of the seventh. Charles Merrick's sacrifice fly drove in one run, then Atkins made it 6-4 with an RBI single. With Bruin runners on first and second and just one out, reliever Ryan Earey got Scott to foul out to first and Eric Reese to ground out to second to end the inning. Earey had moved to the mound when Henderson walked the first Bruin batter in the seventh.

DePriest then set down the last six Bruin batters to pick up the save.

A crowd of 531 fans watched the Heels move to 8-0 for the season on an absolutely gorgeous day for baseball. The game was played under sunny skies with the temperature in the mid-70's.

The second-ranked Bruins fall to 6-4 on the season.

The two teams meet again on Sunday at 4:00 p.m. ET. Chris Elmore (1-0, 0.00 ERA) will start for UNC, while Rob Henkel (1-0, 4.0 ERA) will be on the mound for the Bruins.
