AS A SOPHOMORE (2004)
Missed the first 22 games of the season following a shoulder injury in the Tar Heels' annual Fall World Series • Played in 23 games and made nine starts in center field • Batted .190 (8-for-42) and drove in three runs • Had two triples and one double • Was successful on three out of four stolen base attempts • Finished second on the team with four sacrifice bunts • Went 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs batted in at Wake Forest on April 4 • Went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple at Georgia Tech on April 9. Summer 2004: Played with the Wilmington Sharks of the Coastal Plain League • Batted .251 with three homers, eight doubles and 14 steals.

Tied for fourth among regulars with a .319 average • Saw action in 51 games and made 36 starts in the outfield • Scored 31 runs and drove in 16 • Tied for the team lead with three triples and also roped 10 doubles • Successful on eight of nine stolen base attempts • Posted a .971 fielding percentage • Doubled and drove in a run in his first collegiate start against LeMoyne on March 4 • Had 11 multi-hit games, including four consecutive games with two hits from March 8-11 • Recorded a career-high three hits versus both Princeton (March 19) and Mississippi State (May 31) • Also scored three runs against the Tigers • Hit his lone home run of the season against Clemson in the ACC Tournament • Hit safely in four of Carolina's five NCAA Tournament games • Overall, went 7-for-18 with four runs scored in the NCAA run • Stole two bases against both Ball State (March 10) and East Carolina (April 16).
