SOPHOMORE (2009)
Made 14 starts at designated hitter and saw action in 34 games • Hit .238 (10-42) with four runs and eight RBI • Tallied two doubles and a home run en route to a .357 slugging percentage • Reached base at a .421 clip with 10 hits, 13 walks and a hit by pitch in 56 plate appearances • Had two hits and two walks in the Maryland series sweep • Doubled, hit a sacrifice fly and walked three times in five plate appearances in the series win over No. 7 Miami • Belted first career home run and drove in a career-high three runs against Winthrop April 15 • Matched a career-best with two hits and added an RBI versus Duke March 22 • Drove in a run with a bases-loaded walk at Virginia Tech March 15 • Singled off the bench versus Appalachian State March 15 • Went 1-for-3 at DH in first start versus Liberty Feb. 25 • Drove in a then-career-best two runs on a pinch hit double against VMI Feb. 21. FRESHMAN (2008)
A key left-handed bat off the bench as a freshman • Saw the field in 15 games and made five starts at designated hitter • Batted .318 (7-22) with two RBI, two runs and a double • Reached base in 12 of his 27 trips to the plate on seven hits and five walks for a .444 on-base percentage • Went 2-for-4 with an RBI double versus North Florida May 7 • Also had a career-best two hits off the bench at UNC Greensboro April 15 • Drove in first career run with an RBI single against High Point April 23 • Posted a pinch-hit single against Appalachian State April 2 for first career base hit • Drew a walk against Davidson March 25 in his first career plate appearance. Summer 2008: Hit .250 (13-52) over 21 games, including 15 starts, for the Florence RedWolves of the Coastal Plain League • Drove in nine runs • Also made one appearance on the mound, working two-thirds of an inning.
A.C. FLORA HIGH SCHOOL
Three-time all-state pick at A.C. Flora High School • Played for coach Andy Hallett • Rated as the No. 1 first baseman in the state of South Carolina by Diamond Prospects • Teamed with UNC classmate Logan Munson to lead Flora to the 2007 3A state title • Served as team captain • Earned all-area and all-region honors from 2004-07 • Named team offensive MVP in 2006 and 2007 • Member of the South Carolina select team • Also played one year of football and basketball • Member of National Honor Society and earned his I.B. certificate • Played summer ball with the Palmetto Sand Gnats.
