Key right-handed bat off the bench as a freshman • Saw action in 18 games and made seven starts at designated hitter • Hit .357 (10-28) with four RBI and two runs scored on the season • Reached base at a .367 clip • Posted a .500 average as a pinch-hitter for the season and shared the team lead with five pinch hits • Recorded a pair of three-game hitting streaks • Came off the bench for career highs of two hits and two RBI at Charlotte April 22 • Made first career start at DH against Virginia Tech March 15 and drew a walk in two at-bats • Made second start and singled versus UNCG April 1 • Singled and drove in his first career run against Gardner-Webb March 26 • Had a pinch-hit single against VCU March 12 for his first career hit • Singled and added an RBI sacrifice fly at Clemson 4/13 • Singled and scored first career run against Appalachian State April 2. Summer 2008: Batted .303 (36-109) in 32 games, all starts, for the Asheboro Copperheads of the Coastal Plain League • Drove in 22 runs • Added nine doubles and one triple • Also pitched five innings with an ERA of 5.40.
