As a Junior (2003)

A three-year, three-sport standout at Swansboro High School • Played shortstop and pitched and was named all-conference three straight years • Also named all-area player of the year as a senior • Played safety and wide receiver for the Swansboro football team and was a guard and forward in basketball • Two-time all-region pick at Lenoir and a second-team All-America selection in 2001 • Drafted in the 28th round by the Oakland A's.
