Nov. 17, 2008

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Senior Brie Felnagle and junior Lauren Holesh will head to Terre Haute, Ind. on Monday, Nov. 24 for the NCAA Cross Country Championships after earning all-region honors and achieving individual qualifier status. On the men's side, Evan Watchempino finished two spots shy of an at-large bid as an individual after earning all-region honors with a 15th place finish.

Despite a second and fourth place finish out of Felnagle and Holesh the Tar Heel women's team fell shy of an at-large bid for the first time in 11 years after appearing in Terre Haute the past 10 years running. The women's team finished third overall at the NCAA Southeast Regional, 28 points out of the second automatic bid spot held by Kentucky who finished with 126 points, 21 behind champion Virginia.

Indiana State University will host the Championships, November 24, at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course located at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, Indiana. The women's race will begin at approximately 12:08 p.m. Eastern time, followed by the men's race at 12:48 p.m. Both championship races will be broadcast live on CBS College Sports Network and streamed online via NCAA.com.
