Carolina Cross Country Set For NCAA Southeast Regional

The UNC men's and women's cross country team are set for their final meet before the NCAA Championships as they go to Greenville, N.C. on Saturday to compete in the Southeast Regional Championships. The 10k men's race is at 10 a.m. and the women's 6k race is at 11 a.m. The meet takes place at East Carolina's Lake Kristi in Greenville.

Shalane Flanagan will try to win her fourth meet of the season in four tries, as she races along with six others from the women's squad. The other women competing for North Carolina will be Carol Henry, Erin Donohue, Megan Kaltenbach, Meghan Owen, Kristin Stroupe and Jessica Perry.

Flanagan is coming off her fourth consecutive ACC Championship as she won with a time of 19:22.8 in the 6k race. Henry finished third at the ACC Championships and Perry placed tenth with times of 20:06.1 and 20.58.7 respectively. The women's team is currently ranked third in the country.

The seven runner's for the UNC men's team will be Brian McGovern, Matt Daly, Matt Sciandra, Pablo Durana, Robert Borbet, Jesse Rappole and Rob Robertson. McGovern has been the top runner for the UNC men this season, as he hopes to improve on his 17th-place finish at the ACC Championships.
