Oct. 23, 2002

Chapel Hill, N.C. -- The University of North Carolina women's cross country team ranks No. 15 in the October 21st poll by FinishLynx rankings. The Tar Heels dropped one spot after finishing in seventh-place (38 teams) in the blue race at the Asics Pre-National meet on October 19th. UNC will compete at the ACC Championship on November 2, in Atlanta, Ga. The voting panel consists of nine regional representatives of the Women's Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association plus three at-large voters. Five ACC teams, including Carolina, are ranked in the October 21st poll. Wake Forest makes a huge jump from No. 26 to No. 4 after a good finish last week. NC State is next at No. 6, while Duke falls to No. 13. Virginia remains at No. 16 in this week's poll.
