Carolina Individuals Compete At NC Collegiate Championship

Chapel Hill, N.C. -- The University of North Carolina men's and women's cross-country teams participated at the NC Collegiate Championship, in Greenville, N.C. Junior Bobbie Munson led the way in the women's 5K, finishing 12th with a time of 18:09.39. Freshman Pablo Durana was the highest finisher for the Heels, 19th, in the men's 8K with a time of 25:14.04.

Also running for the women were Nicole Boykin, Catalina Palfreman and Erin Macbeth. Boykin finished 11th with a time of 18:32.80, while teammate Palfreman placed 16th with a time of 18:43.93. Macbeth was the final competitor for the Tar Heels finishing in 19th place with a time of 18:51.55.

In the men's race, Durana, Dash Victor, Matt Daly and Erik Olsson competed for UNC. Victor ended the race in 15th place with a time of 25:44.97, while Daly finished 21st with a time of 26:18.19. Olsson finished the 8K in 27:08.17, good enough for 42nd place.

The Tar Heels will be in action again October 19th at the NCAA Preview, in Terre Haute, Ind. The race is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
