Carolina Jumps To No. 13 In Latest Poll

Oct. 1, 2002

Chapel Hill, N.C. -- The University of North Carolina women's cross-country team finished fourth at the Great American Festival, on September 27th, with nine ranking teams competing in the event. The Tar Heels jumped back into the poll this week after knocking off six of those nine ranked teams, including two top 10 schools. UNC grabs a No. 13 ranking in the FinishLynx Cross Country Poll this week.

The voting panel consists of nine regional representatives of the Women's Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association plus three at-large voters.

Four ACC teams are still ranked in the September 30th poll. Last year's ACC champion North Carolina State sits at No. 10, while Duke is No. 11. Virginia moves to No. 15 from 16 a week ago, while Wake Forest and Georgia Tech are just sitting out of the poll.
