Carolina Headed To Notre Dame Invitational On Friday
Sept. 26, 2007
Chapel Hill, N.C. - The men's and women's cross country teams will make their first push towards a bid for the postseason on Friday when they travel to South Bend, Ind. for the Notre Dame Invitational. The women are coming off a first place showing at the Mountaineer Open on Sept. 14, while the men are coming off a second place finish at the same event. The meet will be the first one where the Tar Heels can earn at-large points for the postseason. On the women's side, senior Brie Felnagle will see her first race action of the season as she was held out of the first two races to recover from a deep run in the outdoor postseason. Felnagle will look to repeat the efforts of Megan Kaltenbach who missed the first race of the season and was able capture her first race back en route to the ACC Performer of the Week honors. For the men, Ian Bracy is back after missing the Mountaineer Open and looks to figure into the top five runners for the Tar Heels. Tristram Thomas improved his time dramatically at the Mountaineer Open from the Carolina Classic and looks to play a critical role on Friday along with the team's top finishers in the opening two events, Alex Ray and Nick Hutchins.
The Tar Heels will have another week off before three seperate events take place on Oct. 13.
