Holesh Named ACC Performer Of The Week

Sept. 15, 2008

GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland's Alex Lundy was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Men's Cross Country Performer of the Week while North Carolina's Lauren Holesh was tabbed as the ACC Women's Performer of the Week. Holesh led the Tar Heels at the UNC Challenge as she set a new personal best in the 5K event.

Holesh earned the women's weekly award after capturing individual honors at the UNC Challenge this past weekend in Chapel Hill, N.C. The Raleigh, N.C., junior took first place in the women's 5K race with a personal-best time of 18:05.00 as the Tar Heels three out of four dual meets at the UNC Challenge. Holesh's time is the second best by an ACC performer this season.

Lundy garnered the men's honor after finishing second at the Navy Invitational in Annapolis, Md. In earning Performer of the Week honors for the second time this season, the Littleton, Colo., sophomore covered the 8k course in 24:51.3 - the best time in the ACC this year. Lundy, who won the individual title two weeks ago at the Mount St. Mary's Invitational, led the Terrapins to a third-place finish in the team standings.

The Tar Heels will return to action Oct. 3 at the Notre Dame Invitational in South Bend, Ind.
