Flanagan Qualifies For 5000-Meter Final.

Beijing- Former Tar Heel Shalane Flanagan ran a season best 14:59:69 Tuesday in the Women's 5000-meter run, qualifying for the event's final Friday. Flanagan was one of 15 qualifiers in the Women's 5000M, finishing sixth in her heat.

Flanagan will try and repeat history Firday, after winning the bronze medal last Friday in the Women's 10,000-meter run. Flanagan, turned in an American record effort of 30:22.22, to become only the second American woman to medal in the 10k event since it became part of the Olympics in 1988. In 1992 Lynn Jennings also won the bronze medal.
