Aug. 17, 2008

Beijing - Former Tar Heel Blake Russell completed the Women's Marathon in 2:33:13, approximately seven minutes behind Romania's Tomescu Constantina, the events winner. The Winston Salem native finished 27th out of 69 athletes who completed the event.

Russell qualified for the Women's Marathon with a third place finish and time of 2:32:40 in the Olympic Trials. The former All-America also participated in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens as a first alternate.

Nadine Faustin-Parker, representing the Republic of Haiti, failed to qualify in the Women's 100-meter hurdles. Faustin-Parker finished sixth in her heat with a time of 13:25 Saturday. Faustin-Parker, a two-time Olympian, was not one of the 16 athletes out of 40 to advance to the Semifinals of the Women's 100-meter hurdles.
