Adam Montague was named the East Regional Field Athlete of the Year by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the organization announced this week. Montague is coming off an individual title in the javelin at the NCAA East Region Championships in Gainesville, Fla., where he threw a 2007 nation-best 242-4 heave.

Next up for the Townsville, Australia, native are the 2007 NCAA Championships, where he and teammate Justin Ryncavage, the 2006 NCAA javelin champion, give the Tar Heels two of the favorites in the event. The action in Sacramento starts Wednesday.
