Seniors Laura Gerraughty and Vikas Gowda were named the Southeast Regional Field Athletes of the Year by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the organization announced this week. The duo recently claimed individual titles at the NCAA East Region Championships in Greensboro, N.C.

Gerraughty triumphed in the women's shot put, an event in which she has led the nation throughout the outdoor season. In addition to her work with the shot, the Nashua, N.H., native also took second in the discus. Earlier this season, Gerraughty became just the second woman in Atlantic Coast Conference history to win titles in the shot, discus and hammer in the same ACC meet.

Gowda claimed the men's discus title at regionals and enters the NCAA meet as one of the favorites in the event. Like Gerraughty, Gowda also scored in multiple events, taking fourth in the shot put. The Frederick, Md., native is currently ranked third in the discus and ninth in the shot in the NCAA.
