May 2, 2006

GREENSBORO, N.C. --- After winning a record-tying three individual titles, Laura Gerraughty was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Most Valuable Performer, the league announced Monday. Gerraughty triumphed in the shot put, discus and hammer throw for her 11th, 12th and 13th career ACC titles. She also established a new meet record in the shot put of 61 feet (18.59 meters).

In addition to becoming just the second woman in league history to win the three events in one ACC meet, the Nashua, N.H., native is also just the second woman to ever win both Freshman of the Year and Most Valuable Performer honors in her career.
