ATLANTA --- La'Shonda Carter more than took advantage of her last chance to achieve an NCAA regional qualifying standard Saturday at the Georgia Tech Invitational at George C. Griffin track, and Ian Reynolds added a qualifying mark of his own in the shot put at the North Carolina Central University Last Chance Meet as the North Carolina men's and women's track and field teams concluded competition for the regular season.

Carter leapt 5-8 3/4 in the women's high jump to put herself in a four-way tie for the event win at Georgia Tech, bettering her previous season-best by more than three inches in the process. The mark is the fourth-best in the ACC this year.

Reynolds, meanwhile, posted a 56-3 1/4 toss - a new personal best - in earning his NCAA qualifying mark and a runner-up finish at the NCCU meet. The distance represents the league's seventh-best heave.

Also at the weather-altered Georgia Tech Invitational, the women's 4x100-meter relay team clocked a 45.56 time to place fifth in section one of the event.

Additionally, Britt Taylor jumped 23-4 to finish second in his flight of the men's long jump and Shardae Anderson, Tyra Johnson and Judith Bataille all competed in the women's 100 meters but failed to improve upon their times from earlier in the season.

UNC's track and field teams will next be in action May 25-26, when those Tar Heels who have posted qualifying marks and times compete at the NCAA East Regional in Gainesville, Fla.
