Results

PHILADELPHIA --- One day after becoming just the fifth woman ever to win four Penn Relays titles in the same event, Laura Gerraughty added a discus win to her resume Friday at Franklin Field. Gerraughty's throw of 175 feet, 3 inches (53.43 meters) edged teammate Jocelyn White's effort of 175-1 (53.37m).

Sheena Gordon also had a top-three finish Friday. Her top mark of 6-0 (1.83m) in the high jump was good for third place. Also competing for the Tar Heel women was Marija Kurtovic, who was seventh in the discus with a throw of 50.16 meters.

On the men's side, Vikas Gowda put forth a runner-up effort in the discus with a mark of 192-9 (58.75m). Britt Taylor was second in the long jump (7.20m), while Ian Reynolds was seventh in the shot put (15.99m).

Action concludes tomorrow with Nick Owens competing in the hammer final and Justin Ryncavage going after the javelin crown. The women's 3,200-meter relay will also run, as well as Taylor returning to compete in the triple jump.
