Tar Heels Throwers Compete at USATF Nationals
March 1, 2002 UNC throwers Ian Douglas and Sal Gigante competed in the USA Track & Field Indoor Championships Friday in New York City. Gigante placed 12th in the 35-pound weight throw with a distance of 59-9 1/2, while Douglas finished 12th in the shot put with a throw of 55-10 1/2.
Both Gigante and Douglas have met NCAA provisional qualifying marks in their respective events and could represent UNC at the NCAA Championships next weekend in Fayetteville, Ark.
