UNC Track Finishes Home Season with Last Chance Meet

The University of North Carolina track and field team wrapped up its home indoor schedule Saturday with the UNC Last Chance meet at the Eddie Smith Field House in Chapel Hill. Jocelyn White and Nick Owens each reached personal bests in the weight throw, and Noah Cosby had a PR in the pole vault. UNC had eight individual event winners - four each for the men and the women. Cosby won the pole vault with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 17 feet-2 3/4 inches, two inches better than his previous best. White improved on her PR in the women's weight throw for the second straight week, topping out at 56-6 1/2. Owens topped 20 meters in the weight throw for the first time in his career, finishing with a mark of 67-9 3/4 - an NCAA provisional qualifier. Daniel Harris also hit a provisional mark with a triple jump of 51-0 1/4. Event winners in addition to Cosby, Owens and Harris included Sheena Gordon (high jump), Tatyana Kirichenko (pole vault), Erika Foushee (long jump), Nita Dewberry (triple jump) and Doug Smith (800). Carolina will have one last tune-up for the NCAA Championships next weekend at the Virginia Tech Last Chance meet in Blacksburg, Va.
