UNC placed first in eight events at the UNC Last Chance meet held Wednesday night in the Eddie Smith Fieldhouse in Chapel Hill. Additionally, six Tar Heels met NCAA provisional qualifying marks for the NCAA Championships to be held March 8-9 in Fayetteville, Ark.

For the men, Adam Shunk placed first in the high jump (7-02 1/2), Blair Woodward finished first in the long jump (25-00 1/2) and Brent Callaway took first place in the pole vault (17-03).

Carolina throwers Ian Douglas and Sal Gigante placed first in their events, as well. Douglas took first in the shot put (58-01 3/4), while Gigante threw 65-4 in the 35-pound weight throw for a first-place finish.

On the women's side, Bobbie Jo Munson won the 800-meter run (2:09.43), Erin Donohue took first place in the mile (4:49.06) and Ibiene Bilaye-Benibo finished first in the shot put with a toss of 50-0 1/2.

The marks of Shunk, Woodward, Callaway, Douglas, Gigante and Bilaye-Benibo's were all NCAA provisional qualifying marks.
