Chip Peterson Takes Top 10 Finish At Open Water Mile Event

TIBURON, CALIF. - Chip Peterson of Pine Knoll Shores, N.C. took ninth place in the prestigious RCP Tiburon Mile competition held October 5, 2008 in Tiburon, Calif.

In what was considered by many to be the best open water competition field in history, Peterson finished ninth in a field of 759 competitors. He was the third highest American in the field as swimmers from the U.S. finished in the 7-10 places.

Peterson took ninth in 21 minutes and 44 seconds. Trent Grimsey of Australia was the winner in 20 minutes, 31 seconds.
