UNC Swimmer Allison Barnes Released From UNC Hospitals

Oct. 10, 2008

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - University of North Carolina sophomore swimmer Allison Barnes was released from UNC Hospitals this past Wednesday afternoon. Barnes was admitted to the hospital on September 9 and had been receiving care there since that time. Keith and JoEllen Barnes, Allison's parents, who reside in Bel Air, Md., issued the following official statement on Thursday after their daughter's release.

"Allison's mother and I are happy to announce that Allison was released for North Carolina Memorial Hospital on October 8th just over four weeks after being admitted," said Keith Barnes. "Allison's rehabilitation will take some time but we're optimistic concerning her overall recovery. We would like to thank all those who have supported us over this ordeal with special thanks going to the doctors and nurses at the hospital and the constant support of the UNC athletic department and UNC Swim Coach Rich DeSelm."
