WINNEPEG, MANITOBA - Tar Heel senior diver Eric Poitras turned in an outstanding job last weekend at the Canadian National championship meet. The meet was held at the Pan American Pool in Winnipeg, Canada. The dates were from June 5th through the 8th.

The Carolina senior and native of Regina, Sask., scored 539.19 on 3 meter for 7th place, 291.42 on 1 meter for 8th place. The top 12 participants on each board appear in the final.

Poitras competed against Canadian Olympians Alexander Despatie (won 3 meter w/ 737.10) and Arturo Miranda (2nd w/ 685.08). Both of those divers will more than likely represent Canada for the 2004 Olympics again.
