Steve Mohr Tapped For Prestigious Verizon Academic All-America Team

MUNCIE, IND. - Senior swimmer Stephen Mohr has earned membership on the prestigious 2002-03 Verizon Academic All-America University Division Men's At-Large Team. Mohr was one of 15 named to the men's at-large first team nationally, which includes student-athletes from the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.

Mohr, a 2003 UNC graduate from Mequon, Wis., majored in economics and business administration. He will begin studies at Harvard University Law School this fall. His grade point average of 3.962 was the highest among all Carolina senior student-athletes, and he earned postgraduate scholarships from the NCAA and the Atlantic Coast Conference. A team captain for 2002-03, he has been honored as the Tar Heels' Most Dedicated Swimmer three years and ranks in the top eight in UNC history in three events.

Nominees for Academic All-America honors were required to be starters or key reserves on their teams, carry a 3.2 or better cumulative grade point average and have reached at least sophomore standing.
