Carolina Adds Men's Swimming Recruit
April 19, 2005 CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Bradley Mitchell became the third prospective student-athlete to sign a National Letter of Intent to join the University of North Carolina men's swimming and diving team in 2005-06 when he inked the agreement this past Friday. Mitchell joins Harrison "Hank" Browning and Yi-Khy Saw in the Tar Heel recruiting class. Both Browning and Saw signed their letters of intent during the fall signing period. Mitchell is a native of Somers, N.Y. and he will graduate in June from Somers High School. He was coached at Somers by Roman Catalino. In club swimming, Mitchell competed for the BGNW Marlins which were coached by Dave Ellinhous. Mitchell is a U.S. Senior National Qualifer in both breaststroke events. He has a career best time of 56.11 in the 100-yard breaststroke and 2:01.50 in the 200-yard breaststroke. Harrison Browning is a current member of the United States National Junior Swimming Team and also a member of the Junior Pan Pacific National Team. A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Browning attends Turpin High School and he swims for the M.E. Lyons YMCA under the tutelage of coach Jeremy Bannon. Browning is a tremendous freestyler whose career best times are 46.30 at 100 yards, 1:38.74 at 200 yards, 4:25.76 at 500 yards, 9:11.83 at 1000 yards and 15:20.61 at 1650 yards. Yi-Khy Saw was a member of the 2004 Malaysian Olympic Team and a native of Penang, Malaysia. He currently resides in Jacksonville, Fla. and attends the Bolles School where he is coached by Jeff Poppell. An outstanding distance swimmer. Yi-Khy Saw has career bests of 3:54.60 in the 400-yard individual medley, 4:29.60 in the 500-yard freestyle and 15:33.00 in the 1650-yard freestyle. A versatile performer, he also has gone 1:50.90 in the 200-yard butterfly and 57.21 in the 100-yard breaststroke.
