Men's Swimming Completes Preliminaries at 1999 NCAAs

Tar Heels have three entries on first day of competition.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - North Carolina's men's swimming team had three entries on the first day of the 1999 NCAA Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis.

None of the entries on Thursday qualified for tonight's championship or consolation finals, but the Tar Heels will have one relay and three individual entries in competition in Friday's preliminaries at 12 noon.

Here are the results of Thursday morning's swims:

500-Yard Freestyle - Sophomore Brad Kline of Charlotte, N.C., 39th place, 4:29.12.

50-Yard Freestyle - Senior Ted Brisson of Goldsboro, N.C., 50th place, 20.52

400-Yard Medley Relay - Brisson (50.06), sophomore Ethan Hall of Pleasant Hill, Calif. (56.36), senior Tucker Shade of Decatur, Ill. (46.82) and freshman Kevin Erndl of Martinez, Ga. (45.14), 18th place, 3:18.38.
