Swimmer Ted Brisson Earns Accolades

Senior wins Weaver-James-Corrigan scholarship from the ACC.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Ted Brisson, a senior tri-captain on the 1998-99 University of North Carolina mens swimming and diving team has been named as a recipient of a 1999 Weaver-James-Corrigan Postgraduate Award, as announced Wednesday by Atlantic Coast Conference Commissioner John D. Swofford. Brisson, a senior from Goldsboro, N.C., has been a member of three ACC championship teams at Carolina in his first three years. He has a 3.81 cumulative grade point average while double majoring in economics and chemistry. He plans to attend medical school next year at either North Carolina, Johns Hopkins or Harvard.

The scholarships are given to selected student-athletes who have intentions of continuing academic work as full-time graduate students. Each recipient will receive $5,000.00 to use towards their graduate education. The awards are named in honor of the late Jim Weaver and Bob James as well as Gene Corrigan, past ACC commissioners.

Brisson will be honored on Wednesday, April 7, 1999 in Greensboro, N.C. at a luncheon hosted by the Nat Greene Kiwanis.
