MINNEAPOLIS - The North Carolina men's and women's swimming teams traveled to the upper Midwest this weekend and produced some great results in dual meets at the University of Minnesota's Aquatics Center.

The 18th-ranked University of North Carolina women's swimming team upset three teams rated higher in the College Swimming Coaches Association of America rankings. The Tar Heels defeated #7 Michigan 187-183, #12 Nebraska 243-125 and #16 Minnesota 188-182. UNC improved to 3-1 on the season in dual meets with the only loss being to #1-ranked and defending NCAA champion Georgia. All in all, UNC went 3-0 this weekend, Minnesota 2-1, Michigan 1-2 and Nebraska 0-3.

The Tar Heel men, ranked 22nd nationally, earned a split in Minneapolis. Carolina lost to the homestanding Golden Gophers, ranked #11 in the nation, 234-135. Carolina fared better against the 14th-ranked Nebraska Cornhuskers, pulling off a 196-174 upset win. The Tar Heel men are now 1-2 on the season with their only losses to #8 Georgia and #11 Minnesota. During the weekend Minnesota went 2-0, UNC 1-1 and Nebraska 0-2.

Carolina will return to dual meet action on Wednesday at 5 p.m. when the Tar Heels play host to the Duke Blue Devils at 5 p.m. at the Maurice J. Koury Natatorium on the Carolina campus.
