AUSTIN, TEXAS - The University of North Carolina men's swimming team continued competition Friday morning at the 2003 NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving Championships hosted by the University of Texas.

Three Tar Heels competed in Friday morning's preliminaries. Sophomore Eddy Matkovich was UNC's highest finisher Friday as he placed 30th in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 48.41.

Meanwhile, junior Yuri Suguiyama placed 41st with a time of 1:38.73 and senior Sean Quinn finished 35th in the 100-yard breaststroke in 55.76.

UNC will continue competition on Saturday with Suguiyama swimming the 1650-yard freestyle and Quinn competing in the 200-yard breaststroke.
